Metro Ambie Bench

A new level of refinement

The Metro Ambience series models can now be seamlessly
installed without the pedestal base, directly onto a suitable noncombustible bench.

This elevated setup not only enhances the viewing pleasure of the fire but also simplifies the processes of refuelling and cleaning the firebox, while providing a practical space for storing firewood.

Metro offer two benches specifically designed for use with the Ambience series models. These benches provide a lightweight, ready-made solution, perfect for achieving a sleek ‘bench top’ style installation. Both benches come with pre-cut fixing points, ensuring hassle-free installation of the applicable Ambie model

Ambience models have been tested and approved to AS/NZS 2918 with a ceiling height of 2.4m (+/-0.1m) with a Pioneer double flue shield fitted.

Elevated installation onto the Metro Ambie Bench requires a minimum ceiling height of 2.7m. All bench installations also require a minimum 10mm rear clearance to a combustible wall (or have the bench simply pushed hard back against a standard 10mm skirting board). A Metro bench installation increases tested clearances (A) and (H) and also alters the wetback connection heights. All other tested installation clearances remain the same including the minimum floor protector requirements.

Bench top installation may be achieved with a 2.4m ceiling height, but does limit the height of the bench beneath the fire. Options to increase bench height are possible with a larger ceiling plate/shielding as detailed in AS/NZS 2918 or installation into a home with a higher ceiling height to suit the minimum clearances required. AS/NZS 2918 allows for a reduction in minimum clearances as detailed in Section 3, Tables 3.1 and 3.2 of the Standard. Note: Full installation clearances and specifications are available in the
